Sebenzile Matsebula (Sebe) is RI Deputy Vice President – Africa.
She trained as a biometrician and is a disability activist since 1986. From 1997 to 2006 she was Director in the Presidency of South Africa and was responsible for mainstreaming disability. From 2002 to 2005 she provided leadership in the development of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Sebe serves on the boards of Action on Disability & Development, the African Decade of Persons with Disabilities, Rand Merchant Bank Foundation, Disability Empowerment Concerns and the Thabo Mbeki Development Trust for Disabled People. She has provided advisory services to numerous UN bodies including the WHO, ILO, UNDP and UNFPA.
She holds the Rotary International Award of Paul Harris Fellow in recognition for her contribution to the emancipation of people with disabilities.
Sebe is an Executive Director in the African Access group of companies. She has a deep passion for the empowerment of women with disabilities.
