Anne Hawker is currently President of Rehabilitation International, having spent 35 years in advocacy at country, Regional and International level. This is a position she has held since 2008.

She currently works for the Ministry of Social Development in New Zealand as the Principal Disability Adviser. This was a newly created position aimed at ensuring the person of people with disabilities was heard in the development of services and that the Ministry was both a good employer and displayed disability confidence in terms of its delivery to its customers with disabilities.

Previously she worked in the non government sector including as Chief Executive of the Head Injury Society in New Zealand.

Anne Hawker has been made a life member of the Otago MS Society; DPA(NZ) (RI New Zealand  National Member Organisation) and NZ Rehabilitation Association arising from her work on the Boards of these organisations.

Anne has been a lecturer in rehabilitation at the University of Otago outlining her personal experience with disability. She has had a number of papers published on rehabilitation and disability.
