Presentation – Marcio Castro de Aguiar
The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the increasing and irreversible process of ratification by signatory countries is an emblematic moment. Thus, all challenges are accepted on behalf of our constant and tireless militancy.
The belief that Human Rights, democracy and accessibility are indissoluble and that they represent the respect and valorization of human diversity, as instruments of welfare and inclusive development, is fundamental to impel affirmative actions towards the transformation of the reality of 650 millions People With Disabilities in our planet.
To be a citizen each person, unique and singular, needs to live together with all society and to offer for all people his/her knowledge and capabilities, through an exchange of permanent improvement. To value this means that our actions are based on ethic principles which respect the human diversity and reaffirm the commitments with the citizenship building as instrument for equality of opportunities.
A new view which reinforces new attitudes of action and thinking on Public Policies and programs for People with Disabilities is the basis of our struggle for the formulation of a new Culture Pattern which can accept the difference and can promote the strengthening of a Network to Protect Human Rights.
To accept the post I have been invited is to assume the commitment to fight tirelessly for the Social Inclusion of People with Disability, specially, people who has no opportunity to know his/her Rights, to speak by himself/herself and to participate in equal conditions of others.
