RI and its members are involved in a range of advocacy efforts and projects to promote the RI goal of achieving full rights and inclusion for all persons with disabilities.

These pages highlight projects undertaken by the RI Secretariat in collaboration with RI Regions, Commissions and members. RI also works closely with a number of partners, including UN agencies and institutions, international and regional organizations and experts on disability issues.

RI projects include:

  1. training of professionals, policymakers, NGOs and persons with disabilities on disability issues, such as the UN Disability Rights Convention and HIV/AIDS
  2. programs specifically for women with disabilities and young people with disabilities
  3. advocacy on disability issues at the UN and other international and regional fora
  4. research on important disability issues
  5. dissemination of information on disability rights and programs
  6. development of community-based rehabilitation (CBR) programs
  7. promotion of accessibility and assistive technology production and availability
  8. opportunities to increase work and employment for persons with disabilities
