Indonesia eyes semifinal spot in deaf futsal regional tournament

29 March 2019

Indonesia targeted to enter the semifinals at the 3rd Asia Pacific Deaf Futsal Championships slated for this week in Thailand, a minister said here on Thursday.

Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi said the Indonesian team needs to meet the target as a prerequisite to compete in the world’s deaf futsal championships next year in Switzerland.

“The team is expected to go into the semifinals, so that it can compete in the world’s tournament in Switzerland,” Nahrawi said at his office.

The 3rd Asia Pacific Deaf Futsal Championships are set to be held from February 15 to 24 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Indonesia has sent both men’s and women’s teams to the tournament, with the men players competing against eight nations and their women peers facing four opponents from the region, said coach Mirza Siregar.
