The CDPF has been actively engaged in poverty alleviation for persons with disabilities, encouraging the establishment of living subsidy and nursing subsidy systems for them, which has benefited more than 26 million people with disabilities since its launch.

According to Zhang, the country will vigorously develop education for the people with disabilities and help more children with disabilities study in ordinary schools. Special attention has also been paid to protecting the rights and interests of children and women with disabilities, promoting the establishment of a rehabilitation and assistance system for the former, and planning the creation of “To-beautify Workshops” to enable the latter to pursue better lives.

China has established a rehabilitation university in Qingdao, Shandong province, to train high-level rehabilitation professionals and provide better rehabilitation services for people with disabilities, Zhang added.

She also noted that China and the United Kingdom have a long history of cooperation in the field of helping persons with disabilities.

She hoped that the two sides can further deepen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of rehabilitation, education, employment, culture, arts, and sports for people with disabilities and jointly promote the development of persons with disabilities in the two countries and beyond.

Zhang welcomed Wilson and the British Paralympic delegation to take part in the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games and enjoy the Games.
